Ramallah, 18 November 2024 – Mirko Tricoli, Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS Jerusalem), met with Dr. Amjad Barham, the Palestinian Minister of Education and Higher Education, to explore avenues for strengthening the education sector in Palestine.
During the meeting, Minister Barham shared an update on the current state of education in the West Bank and Gaza. He highlighted the urgent need for assistance in delivering educational materials to Gaza to ensure that students in both schools and universities can continue their education despite the ongoing challenges.
Mr. Tricoli underscored the critical role of supporting education in Palestine, particularly in light of the severe humanitarian situation in Gaza. He also emphasized the importance of completing the activities of the “Amal” Project within the established timeframe.
The three-year “Amal” Project, funded by AICS and implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education institutions, is designed to support several initiatives. These include specialized training aimed at developing future university leaders, focusing on human rights and gender equality.
