Established in Ramallah a vocational trainings center thanks to the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and Gubbio Municipality
Ramallah, March 12th 2019 – A new result has been achieved for Gubbio Municipality and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Palestine, sealing the ending of the first year of activities for the project “Integrated poles for professional and entrepreneurial training and qualifications in the construction sector“, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
The inauguration of a technical center for vocational trainings, devoted to quality and safety in construction sites all over the Palestinian territories, represents one of the main tools to enhance entrepreneurs, public institutions and workers’ awareness about safety on construction sites in Palestine. Every year thousands of workers are injured and more than 100 died in 2018 only, due to the growth of the sector (currently 14% of the Palestinian GDP) and to the low safety measures in the workplaces.
During the inauguration, the main partners of the project delivered remarks: the Mayor of Gubbio Filippo Mario Stirati, the Consul Deputy of Italy Federico Dimonopoli on behalf of the General Consulate of Italy in Jerusalem, Veronica Bertozzi for AICS Jerusalem and the Minister of Public Works Mufid Al-Hasayneh, who already signed an internal agreement in order to recognize the Center as Vocational Training Institution according with European standards.
The opening remarks were delivered by Taj AL Dein Jom’a, President of the Palestinian Contractor Union – PCU, and Bernardetta Radicchi, President of the Italian partner Centro Edile Formazione e Sicurezza – CESF Perugia, technical partners of the project responsible for the set-up and the management of the center.
It has already been launched the first course for Palestinian trainees: 14 entrepreneurs, young engineers that last year attended technical classes in Perugia and now will participate together with other 10 students to lessons and exercises delivered by 4 CESF experts on mission in Ramallah.
