The training programme “Promoting Innovative Educational Methodologies in Higher Education Institutions in Palestine” continued with activities held on 7 and 8 July for academic staff from three universities in the Bethlehem Governorate: Bethlehem University, Dar Al-Kalima University, and Palestine Ahliya University.

The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the National Commission for Accreditation, Quality and Standards of Higher Education Institutions, under the programme “A Multidisciplinary Intervention in Support of Gender Equality Education in Palestine”, funded by the Italian Cooperation.

The training brought together 114 faculty members from the three participating universities and focused on five main thematic areas: artificial intelligence and its applications in teaching, assessment, and scientific research; entrepreneurship and innovation; scientific publishing; assessment and academic integrity; and innovative teaching methodologies.

The programme combined theoretical sessions, practical exercises, and interactive discussions, fostering the exchange of experiences and providing participants with tools and approaches applicable to different higher education contexts.

Particular attention was devoted to the use of artificial intelligence in higher education, exploring both the opportunities offered by emerging digital tools and the challenges associated with their responsible use, particularly in student assessment, scientific research, and the promotion of academic integrity.

The initiative forms part of the Italian Cooperation’s broader support to the education sector in Palestine, aimed at strengthening the capacities of academic staff and promoting innovative, inclusive teaching methodologies that contribute to improving the quality of higher education.
