Nablus, 23 July 2025 – A delegation from the AICS Jerusalem Office, together with the Consul General of Italy in Jerusalem, carried out an institutional visit to Nablus to meet with key local authorities and partners involved in programs funded by the Italian Cooperation.
The day began with a meeting with the Governor of the Nablus Region, Mr. Ghassan Doughlas, followed by a visit to the Mayor of the city, Mr. Husam Shakhsheer. During both meetings, aimed at reaffirming the commitment and support of the Italian Cooperation in the region, the main challenges faced by the citizens of this area were presented, and opportunities for future collaboration were explored.
The delegation then visited Nablus University, where they were welcomed by the President, Prof. Abdel Nasser Zaid, to discuss ongoing activities and collaborations, particularly within the framework of the projects “Karama – Building a system that respects human rights and personal dignity,” “Amal – Promoting human rights and gender equality in Palestine,” and “Multidisciplinary Interventions – Promoting education for gender equality through cross-sectoral cooperation.”
The visit continued to the Little Genius Kindergarten, one of the enterprises that benefited from a loan under the Italian credit line of the Start-Up Palestine program, managed by the Palestinian Employment Fund (PEF). On site, the delegation met with the head of the facility for an update on the activities carried out thanks to the support received through the Italian Cooperation, as well as with representatives of the microcredit institution ACAD, one of the implementing partners of PEF.
The mission concluded with a meeting with Director Mr. Salam Qaoud and a visit to the Awtar Cultural Center, an organization dedicated to promoting culture and the arts at the local level.
