Ramallah, 17/09/2026 – Within the framework of the EU-funded project “Promoting Gender-Responsive Actions in Palestine to Integrate Women in the Culture and Creativity Industry (CCI)”, implemented by Italy, the Human Rights and Democracy Media Center (SHAMS), one of AICS’s project partners, organised a conference on women’s participation in the Palestinian labour market.
The conference brought together representatives of government institutions, civil society and the private sector to discuss barriers to women’s participation in the labour market and measures to promote a more enabling and inclusive work environment.
Following opening remarks by H.E. Dr Enas Al-Attari, Minister of Labour; H.E. Ms Mona Al-Khalili, Minister of Women’s Affairs; H.E. Eng. Mohammad Al-Amour, Minister of National Economy; H.E. Serge Marait, on behalf of the Office of the European Union Representative; Mr Abdo Idris, Chairman of the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture; and Mr Mirko Tricoli, Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the conference addressed legislation and policies governing women’s participation in the labour market, violence and discrimination in the workplace, and institutional gender auditing as a tool for developing inclusive and gender-responsive workplaces.
The discussions provided an opportunity to exchange views on existing gaps and priorities and to consider the roles of different stakeholders in supporting women’s participation and retention in the labour market.
