Delegated Cooperation is the way in which Italy contributes to the implementation of European development aid programs, including participating in indirect centralized management, mediated by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). Delegated interventions are selected from sectors where the local office has demonstrated particular expertise and experience.
AICS actively collaborates with the European Union and other international partners to strengthen the impact of interventions and ensure a coordinated response to development challenges in Palestine. Delegated cooperation initiatives enhance synergy between local and international actors, maximizing available resources and promoting an integrated approach to cooperation.
At the Jerusalem office, the project supporting UNRWA, “Improving Solid Waste Management in Dheisheh Refugee Camp and Surrounding Areas,” is active, with the CESVI organization involved and in Implementing field activities.
Moreover, in 2024, negotiations were concluded between AICS and the European Union Representative Office for an additional intervention in the gender sector. The agreement was formalized at the end of December 2024, with activities set to begin in 2025. The project, “Promoting gender-responsive actions in Palestine – integrating women in the culture and creativity industry,” aims to strengthen
the economic empowerment of Palestinian women through actions that increase female presence in the audiovisual, design, and communication sectors, facilitated by partnerships between universities and the private sector.
