Ramallah, 1 July 2026
A handover ceremony for assistive devices and mobility aids for persons with disabilities and older people took place yesterday in Ramallah under the PADIS – Strengthening the Rights of Persons with Disabilities project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development and the Italian organization EducAid.
The initiative is part of the project’s direct management component, which is currently in its final phase, and represents one of the last assistance activities planned under the programme.
The intervention enabled the delivery of 843 assistive and mobility devices to persons with disabilities across 11 Palestinian governorates and six community care centres. The distributed equipment included wheelchairs, Perkins Braille writers, printers, white canes, alternating pressure air mattresses, patient lifts for older persons, patient transfer trolleys, wheeled walkers, and other assistive devices designed to enhance beneficiaries’ independence, mobility, and access to essential services.
This intervention reflects the Italian Cooperation’s ongoing commitment to promoting social inclusion and strengthening social protection services in Palestine, with particular attention to the needs of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
