AICS Mission to Amman for the UNRWA Sub-Committee: Focus on Cooperation, Results, and Visit to Refugee Camps

Last week, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) in Jerusalem took part in a mission to Amman on the occasion of the Sub-Committee meeting of the UNRWA Advisory Commission. UNRWA is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. The mission is part of Italy’s ongoing support for UNRWA and represented an important opportunity for dialogue between the main donor countries and the Agency.

The Sub-Committee sessions provided an update on the implementation of the Colonna Report and the future outlook for the Agency. In addition, a field visit was conducted at the Al-Wehdat refugee camp, located southeast of Amman. Established in 1955, the camp currently hosts over 62,000 Palestinian refugees in an area of just 0.5 km².

During the visit, participants were able to directly observe the services provided by UNRWA, with particular attention to the impact of these activities on the beneficiaries. A particularly meaningful moment was the meeting with student representatives, highlighting the value of the Agency’s daily work in the field, especially in support of younger generations.

The End.
